Timberwolves Superstar Officially Active for Game 1 vs Spurs

The Minnesota Timberwolves will play Game 1 of their second round playoff series against the Western Conference two-seed Spurs Monday night at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, and they will do it with or without their superstar Anthony Edwards.
Just two days ago, however, the thought of Ant playing early in the second round would have been considered justifiably hyperbolic.
Shortly after Edwards hyperextended his knee in Game 4 of the Wolves’ first round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets, Shams Charania (ESPN) reported that the 24-year-old would miss at least two weeks.
Minnesota Timberwolves getting Anthony Edwards officially back
So when the MN Timberwolves upgraded Edwards from “Out” to “Questionable” on the injury report Sunday, it sent shockwaves through the basketball world.
Then Monday, shortly after reporting that Anthony Edwards “significantly participated in Timberwolves shootaround” and that he was pushing coaches and trainers to activate him today for Game 1, Shams was first to report this afternoon that Minnesota’s superstar was expected to play in Game 1 vs San Antonio.
Then, at about 7 p.m. CDT, news broke that Ant is officially active tonight, though he will be on a minutes restriction.
Anthony Edwards is officially playing, per Chris Finch. He said there will be some sort of a minute restriction. Wouldn’t reveal if Edwards would start. “I don’t know.”

Anthony Edwards has always been a fast healer. However, finding a way onto the active roster tonight, and into the starting lineup, would be taking his Wolverine superhero act to an entirely different level.
Ant injured himself on April 25, meaning Monday marks the ninth day since he last took the floor. Reminder: his timeline was supposed to be a minimum of two weeks.
Meanwhile, the news coming in on another key Minnesota Timberwolves injury is not as positive. Ayo Dosunmu will miss his second-straight game on Monday, after he was a late scratch before Game 6 against the Nuggets.
