The Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to go up 3-1 in their first round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, a tall task even before the game started, and they had Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo in the starting lineup.

Donte DiVincenzo injury looks really bad

Unfortunately, life got a lot more difficult when, early in the first quarter, Donte DiVincenzo suffered a non-contact calf injury. Almost immediately, he was ruled out for the remainder of this game.

I’m not a doctor, and thus cannot be relied upon for medical opinions. With that being said, the slow-motion replay of DiVincenzo’s injury looks nearly identical to Kirk Cousins’ ruptured achilles back in 2023 @ Green Bay.

At halftime, ABC showed video of the 29-year-old DiVincenzo exiting the arena in a wheelchair, with a massive brace around his leg, undoubtedly on his way to the hospital. Sure enough, at the end of the third quarter, Shams reported what we all already knew. Donte has a torn achilles tendon.

Now, not only will the Wolves be without Donte DiVincenzo for the rest of the postseason, but probably part of the 2026-27 regular season too.

And if one starter leaving a playoff game with injury wasn’t bad enough, the Minnesota Timberwolves woes got much worse in that department, later in the first half.

Anthony Edwards exits Timberwolves vs Nuggets with left knee injury

While running back on defense, Anthony Edwards jumped up to contest a play at the rim, and when he came down, his left leg bent way too far the wrong way, hyperextending his knee, and dropping our superstar to the hardwood.

Ant’s latest knee injury comes while he is actively nursing another knee injury, on the other leg. Remember, the 24-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves superstar missed 11 of the team’s final 14 regular season game with right knee patellofemoral pain syndrome.

Of course, that injury didn’t end at game 82. Instead, Edwards’ right knee pain has lingered into the postseason and affected the superstar’s aggressiveness throughout much of this first round series against Denver.

And now, he has a whole different set of knee problems to worry about.
