Karl-Anthony Towns’ Meniscus Recovery Ahead of Schedule but Return Timeline Still TBD
The Minnesota Timberwolves, who clinched a spot in the western conference playoff bracket on Monday night, are trying to stiff arm a very public ownership battle being had above their pay grade and focus on basketball.
One basketball-related question mark surrounding the Wolves’ quest for a playoff run unlike anything this town has ever seen, is Karl-Anthony Towns’ torn’ meniscus recovery. Will KAT be available before, during or after the 1st round of the NBA Playoffs?
Karl-Anthony Towns ahead of schedule?
Well, we got our first real update in weeks on Tuesday via Darren Wolfson (SKOR North, KSTP), who was told via reigning majority owner Glen Taylor that KAT is “ahead of schedule” on his recovery from meniscus surgery.
“Glen Taylor told me on Thursday that KAT is, quote, ‘ahead of schedule’….”
“KAT undergoes surgery on March 12. Is it realistic to think that he’s back by April 20th or 21st? I mean, the Wolves will open up the playoffs either that Saturday or Sunday. Or is it more realistic later on in the first round, because of conditioning… what exactly does he look like…? Is the team clicking at a high level? They’ve looked pretty good, outside of Sunday, without KAT. Do you want to rush KAT back? But bottom line, Glen told me that KAT is ahead of schedule coming back from meniscus surgery.”

Minnesota Timberwolves pushing for No. 1 seed in West
I mean, I’m not sure exactly what the schedule for Towns’ return was but I thought they were always aiming for the first round of the playoffs. So, it’s good to see that Karl is tracking to hit that return timeline… but I’m not sure it’s ahead of schedule. But hey, I’m not the majority owner either.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will lace them up against the surging Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. If they want to remain in the conversation for the No. 1 seed in the West, it’s a win they kind of need.
