The Twins won their 3rd-straight game on Saturday night and will now go for a 4-game sweep of the Texas Rangers, in Arlington, this afternoon. We also picked up another game on Cleveland (who plays the Yankees again today) and have stretched our division lead back out to 2.5 games.

Life is should be good.

But, WTF is wrong with Jose Berrios….? I’ve tried to lay off of the Minnesota Twins’ pitching staff recently. There’s no point in kicking a dead horse and you can only say “I told you so”, so many times before everyone starts crying. But what has been going on with our Ace recently is disturbing.

You gave up what to Danny Santana? Like… the same Danny Santana that used to play here? Noooo, stop… he’s not in the league anymore…?

So, I’ve seen many around the Twittersphere and even elsewhere (not that “elsewhere” matters) chatter about a possible IR stint coming soon for Jose Berrios but I just don’t see that happening. I haven’t had a chance to check around at all on this, but it wouldn’t make sense to push Berrios through 4+ innings (almost) if you aren’t 100 percent sure he’s healthy. The guy gave up 6 runs in the 1st inning and followed that by letting 2 more cross the plate in the 2nd. Even if the runs weren’t all his fault, you still wouldn’t let him labor when he’s already been riding the struggle bus for his last three starts…

Anything can change at anytime, obviously, but the Twins’ course of action so far, hasn’t pointed to any injury concerns.

But, I’m concerned. I’m concerned because the Twins’ pitching staff already looks vastly overmatched against most of the likely playoff opponents. If you take away Jose Berrios, it’s treading on embarrassment.

All we can do is listen, watch, and wait. We have to hope that injuries aren’t the issue and that he takes the mound for his next start. Then, we have to hope he’s better. Until then, I’ll track rumors for you and be sure to let you know if anything crosses the ticker (twitter).
