Dylan Larkin to MN Wild Steam Picking Back Up

The Minnesota Wild have been trying to trade for Dylan Larkin since he put them on his trade list nearly a month ago.
Unfortunately, to this point, Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman has been unwilling to accept any of the packages Bill Guerin has thrown his way. Going into the weekend, though, it sounds like Minnesota’s extreme efforts to land Detroit’s captain may finally be paying off.
After a day or two of relative quiet, trade rumors involving the Gold Medal-winning centerman were sparked back up Friday morning by St. Louis Blues TV host and longtime NHL reporter, Andy Strickland.
Dylan Larkin to Minnesota Wild is back up
That’s right, the rival Central Division reporter tweeted out earlier today, after “gauging opinions”, his belief is that Dylan Larkin lands with the MN Wild “once everything is settled.”

Remember, Bill Guerin’s entire offseason is on hold, while we wait for Yzerman to figure out how and when he wants to trade Larkin. To this point, the only signing they’ve made was an extension for Michael McCarron — which they stretched out to 6 years, in order to make him fit into their financial plans.
After reportedly swinging and missing on Brady Tkachuk, who ended up in Florida with his brother Matt, the Minnesota Wild may be running out of options if they do the same on Larkin. That’s why Strickland’s tweet will have fans feeling better entering the weekend.
Local insider on Larkin watch this weekend
But not so fast, because we aren’t done pumping the latest optimism into your veins just yet. Because whatever Andy is hearing from his sources. local Star Tribune columnist LaVelle E. Neal III is hearing the same thing… but even more strongly.
Late in his appearance on KFAN Radio Friday morning, Neal told Nine to Noon producer and substitute host Eric Nordquist that, not only does he expect Dylan Larkin to land in Minnesota… but he is on watch for it to happen this weekend.
“It’s basically down to the Wild and the Las Vegas Golden Knights. So if I was a Wild fan, I would be on Dylan Larkin watch this weekend. That’s all I’m gonna say.”
“It’s 11:52 a.m., okay? Because one thing a reporter hates is a Friday afternoon news dump. So this was a Friday morning news hint… or news speculation. Let’s just say that.”

If LaVelle’s sources (probably Bill Guerin but just guessing) are correct, the timing makes a ton of sense. Guys like Mats Zuccarello and Nick Foligno become unrestricted free agents next week.
With or without Dylan Larkin (hopefully with), the Minnesota Wild have to move on with their lives ASAP.
