Dylan Larkin Trade List Includes Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild are looking for a number one playmaking center this offseason, something the organization has lacked since its first ever game on October 6, 2000.
That’s why, when Dylan Larkin — who played for Team USA this winter during the Olympics — officially requested a trade out of Detroit last week, Wild president of hockey operations and Team USA GM Bill Guerin — was one of the first executives to show up on Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman’s phone.
However, Minnesota was far from the only team expected to have interest in the 29-year-old out of Michigan — who has reached the 30 goal/30 assist mark in each of the past five seasons, but hasn’t played in the playoffs since his rookie year (2015-16).

When the news broke on Larkin’s trade request, Michael Russo (The Athletic) reported that Guerin was 100% going to shoot his best shot, then went on to name nearly a dozen other teams he expected to call the Red Wings.
But here’s the thing. Dylan Larkin has a full no-trade clause, so he gets the rare opportunity for NHL stars to choose his destination. And on Monday, all but three of the 32 NHL teams found out that they didn’t make Larkin’s final cut.
Minnesota Wild make Dylan Larkin’s very short trade list
Fortunately, according to Helene St. James (Detroit Free Press) the Minnesota Wild were one of the three lucky teams that are still in the running, along with the Florida Panthers and Vegas Golden Knights.
The Free Press has learned from a person within the NHL – granted anonymity because they are unauthorized to speak publicly – that these are the three teams on Larkin’s list, in no particular order:
- Florida Panthers
- Vegas Golden Knights
- Minnesota Wild
[In Minnesota], Larkin would be reunited with fellow U.S. gold medalists Quinn Hughes, Matt Boldy and Brock Faber. Wild GM Bill Guerin has shown he’s all-in on guiding the team to its first Stanley Cup championship since entering the league as an expansion team in 2000-01, pulling off the Hughes trade in December 2025.
Hughes had made it clear he wouldn’t re-sign with the Vancouver Canucks, and since he was in the fifth season of a six-year deal, the Canucks decided to get value while they could. Yzerman pursued Hughes as well, but pulled out when Hughes, who played at Michigan, would not commit to re-signing.

Last season, Dylan Larkin scored 34 goals and assisted on 33 more. Over the course of his NHL career, the Waterford, Michigan native piled up 276 goals and 643 total points.
What MN Wild trade package look like for Larkin?
Hopefully, Yzerman isn’t expecting a massive haul for his star center. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman (FAN Hockey Show), the “package people are talking about” is Danila Yurov, Charlie Stramel and picks. Seems like that offer might be the leader in the clubhouse.
Elliotte Friedman: Re Dylan Larkin trade request: I'm looking at Dallas; Tampa Bay, I don't know that Florida could do this, but I think you always have to look at them, but I think the #1 team that everybody's looking at is Minnesota – 32 Thoughts (6/5)

If the 2014 No. 15 overall draft pick lands with the Minnesota Wild, they’d immediately be considered one of a few Stanley Cup favorites entering the 2026-27 season. St. James’ piece does mention that the Red Wings may go back to Larkin for additional teams to negotiate with, should they fail to land a deal with Minnesota, Florida or Vegas.
