Red Sox Star Caught Flipping the Bird to MN Twins Fans

The Minnesota Twins won their fourth-straight game on Tuesday night, and second straight against the Boston Red Sox, making them 11-7 on the season and atop the American League Central by one game over the Cleveland Guardians.
Of course, the season is young and the Twins still have a lot more winning to do, if they are going to convince those around the league that their scrappy mix of youngsters and veterans can be a real contender for the 2026 MLB Postseason.
For now, however, playing this Minnesota team is not a mission to take lightly, a lesson the Red Sox are learning the hard way this week.
All the Minnesota Twins do is win…
Boston landed in Minneapolis Sunday night winners in four of their last five games, and seemingly poised to turn a slow start into a New England hot streak. That was until they ran into a Major League buzzsaw called the Minnesota Twins.
In Monday’s series opener, the Twins’ offense buried the Sox before they even realized what city they were in, blowing up for 11 runs in the first two innings. Then Tuesday, rookie starter Mick Abel gave Minnesota the best performance of his young career so far, allowing the Twins to walk away with an easy 6-0 victory.

Now, any hopes of continuing their previous hot streak are out the window. Now, the Red Sox are just hoping to salvage one game of the series tomorrow afternoon against Simeon Woods Richardson.
But few Red Sox position players have gotten off to as slow a start as their All-Star outfielder, Jarren Duran. The 29-year-old left-handed bat has stumbled out of the 2026 regular season gates with a .182 batting average and .565 OPS (1 HR, 10 RBI) through 14 games this season.

And Tuesday, after an easy groundout to Minnesota Twins second baseman Luke Keaschall, Duran took his frustration out on a fan at Target Field, who must have been chirping the six-year MLB veteran, with a classic flip of the bird… which was caught in HD by the Twins.TV camera crew.

Over the past couple seasons, Jarren Duran has become an extra base hit machine, piling up 89 doubles and 27 triples over the past two seasons. His 48 doubles and 14 triples led the MLB in 2024, his only All-Star appearance so far.
He hit another 41 doubles and 13 triples last season, the latter of which led the league for the second-straight season. While he’s been able to hit with runners in scoring position (10 RBI), the rest of his stats are down. In fact, Duran has just 3 doubles so far this season, and ZERO triples.
Thus, it’s no surprise fans at Target Field were able to get into the former 7th round pick’s head, something that Minnesota Twins fans suddenly seem pretty good at. Just ask Tom Pohlad.
Jarren Duran explains his Target Field bird
However, Duran told reporters after the game that his silent outburst was the product of a fan in Minnesota allegedly telling him to “go kill yourself”, following his groundout.
Red Sox' Jarren Duran: “Somebody just told me to kill myself. I’m used to it at this point. I mean, (expletive) happens. I mean, I’m gonna flip somebody off if they say something to me. But it is what it is. I shouldn’t react like that. But that kind of stuff is still kind of… https://t.co/y9mBxXKZa5

I have little reason to doubt Mr. Duran’s accusations, and it’s never okay to tell anyone to “go kill themselves.” That’s a horrible jeer to hurl anybody’s way. Unoriginal too.
And without a doubt, fans in Boston would NEVER utter such slurs in the direction of struggling players from opposing teams. People on the East Coast are known for being polite and forever welcoming to outsiders, afterall.
So get your act together, Minnesota.
