If you haven’t seen the video yet, there was a shocking altercation that surfaced last week between Minnesota Twins owner, chairman and CEO Tom Pohlad, and a Twins fan sitting directly behind home plate, in the front few rows of the Legends Club at Target Field.

In the video (below), you see a Twins fan approach the third-generation owner upset over a previous interaction that happened between the two. She is accusing Pohlad of calling her different iterations of “classless”, over a stocking cap she was wearing that had a Twins logo on the front and “SELL THE TEAM” on the back.

On Monday, Minnesota Sports Fan was able to connect with the fan featured in the video above — Andi Wentworth — who helped us fill in the blanks on exactly what happened the other night at Target Field.

** Of note: Late this morning, in an attempt to get Tom Pohlad’s side of this story, we reached out to Twins public relations director Dustin Morse directly. As of 6:15 p.m., we have yet to hear back.

What led to the above confrontation between Tom Pohlad and MN Twins fan?

In back and forth messages with MSF, Mrs. Wentworth confirmed that she was the woman seen in the video above. She bought two all-inclusive Champions Club seats directly behind home plate, after she found a deal online selling the tickets for $216 each.

With her husband out of town, the self-described middle-class mom told us that she decided to “splurge” on the tickets as a way to surprise her 13-year-old son, who had never never sat in the beautiful people seats at Target Field.

When they initially sat down, Andi is adamant that she didn’t even know who it was sitting in front of her. Only after her son noticed Tom Pohlad allegedly glaring at them did she do some research and realize who he was.

“Hand to God, I didn’t know who he was! I was watching the game and not paying attention, until my son told me the guy in front of us keeps turning around and giving us dirty looks. I didn’t think much about it – because I cheer loud and some people don’t like it. But then, I noticed the dirty looks when we were just sitting there. So I reached out to [a friend] and [did some research on Google] and learned it was Tom Pohlad.”

At that point, the TC logo on her stocking cap was still front-facing (which can be confirmed on the Twins.TV broadcast from that day).

However, once she too became aware of Tom’s uncomfortable glares, the longtime Minnesota Twins fan decided to turn her hat around so “Sell The Team” was front and center.

When Tom Pohlad glares turned to “classless” words

Then, right after she posed for the infamous photo featured at the top of this article, Pohlad couldn’t take it anymore, crying out for Andi to “have some class” and “get some more class” — a meltdown that was not caught on video but has been confirmed by eyewitnesses at Target Field.

““Sell The Team” was towards the back and I only spun it around after he was hell bent on making us uncomfortable – to return the favor. That’s when he got up and yelled at me to “have some class” and “get some more class”.

I was shocked [and] said something along the lines of “free speech, Sir” and “tax dollars also paid for this stadium” and didn’t say anything to him or his family until the end of the game (which was caught on video).”

While it’s difficult to hear the audio of the top video, Pohlad does seem to confirm Andi’s accusations, that he initiated the first interaction. While speaking with us, she was incredibly open to answering questions and didn’t seem to be hiding anything.

For example, she fully admits that Tom’s meltdown may have been the result of turning her Minnesota Twins hat around and snapping some photos with Pohlad in the background. However, after digging into the entire series of events, it’s clear Pohlad confronted her first.

Imagine being way too sensitive over a hat that most people probably didn’t notice. Given the current fan climate, I’m not sure why any Pohlad would step outside of their owner’s suite, if they can’t even handle a “Sell The Team” hat.
