Welp, if you haven’t realized it yet… we have more proof for you that Minnesota Twins fans cannot have nice things. Just as this team flipped a horrible April on its head with one of the best Mays in franchise history, and the roster moved closer to full-health, the injury monster began to creep back into view.

First, the Twins lost both Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton to the concussion list, after the two platinum glove winners collided with one another in shallow center field. Now, just a few days after Buxton finally returned (a week later than Correa), Minnesota has already taken a hit to their freshly re-stocked lineup.

Carlos Correa scratched from Minnesota Twins lineup

Less than 24 hours after we found out ace Pablo Lopez was bound for the injured list, Carlos Correa has been scratched from the Minnesota Twins starting lineup on Wednesday vs the orphan Athletics due to back tightness, according to Phil Miller (Star Tribune)

It’s just crazy how the best players on this baseball team absolutely refuse to stay healthy at the same time. The Twins’ nearly fully-loaded lineup of Buxton, Correa, Wallner, Lewis, Lee, Castro, Bader and Larnach got a full five days together, before Correa was pulled prior to Wednesday’s contest in Sacramento.

Look, middle-of-the order hitters like Royce Lewis and Carlos Correa failing to produce anywhere near their potential happens. That is baseball. We know Correa will eventually break out of his .241 BA, .665 OPS slump. Royce Lewis isn’t going to hit .133 with a .421 OPS all summer, either.

I don’t blame those who wait impatiently. Lewis convinced us he was a superstar pretty much the moment he debuted in a Twins uniform and Carlos Correa makes double what anyone else on the roster does. Thus, expectations are high for both players, as they should be.

Twins injury issues are tiring

But it’s the “uncontrollables” for the Minnesota Twins that are so frustrating, especially when it comes to injuries. Just one year following a season that was steamrolled by second-half injuries, here we are yet again watching their 2025 momentum continually slowed by random ailments.

And the most difficult part… is where to place blame. When a team or player isn’t producing on the field, it’s easy to place blame on said player or a coach. But when year after year, guys can’t stay healthy and it hurts your chances of winning… where do you point the finger?

Is it the training staff’s fault or is the coaching staff not demanding enough from those who are “hurt” vs “injured”? Maybe… it really is just bad luck. If so, it runs throughout the entire organization, not just the big leagues.

I honestly do not know what the cause is or who we should blame. All I do know is that these injuries make it difficult for a team to win games consistently and it’s bad juju for a fanbase that is already semi-apathetic.

We’ll have more info on Correa’s newly-acquired back injury as soon as more information becomes available
