The Minnesota Wild are off to a rough start this season, at 5-6-2. But on Friday night vs the Buffalo Sabres, they will get a big boost to their downtrodden blue line, with Jared Spurgeon in the lineup after he was activated from long-term injured reserve this afternoon.

Friday will be the 14th game in the Wild’s 2023-24 season but it will be Spurgeon’s debut.

Minnesota has won two of its last three games but continues to be haunted, turnovers, poor defense and ugly goaltending. Bill Guerin traded away 23-year-old defenseman, Calen Addison, and brought in 33-year-old, Zach Bogosian, to replace him.

We do not know if Jared Spurgeon back on the blue line will save the Minnesota Wild from themselves on a night-in, night-out basis, but there’s no doubt that getting their captain back will help the cause.
