The Minnesota Vikings sent Greg Joseph packing this offseason. Minnesota shut down a competition with John Parker Romo quickly. All eyes turned to rookie Will Reichard. He’s been great so far and the Minnesota Vikings are hoping that never changes.

Will Reichard has motivation to keep making kicks for Minnesota Vikings

On a weekly basis the kicker of an NFL team can be the hero or the goat. Will Reichard hasn’t found himself in a huge spot during the regular season. He did nail a game winning kick during the preseason. As he attempts to avoid visiting a barbershop, he’ll keep coming up clutch.

Reichard has attempted just three field goals thus far for the Minnesota Vikings. He hasn’t missed and of them. He is also a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points. The Alabama product became the first kicker drafted in 2024, and he is seeking to stabilize the Vikings special teams position.

Will the Thrill can make up for the miss that was Mike Zimmer cutting Daniel Carlson. The Vikings have sought consistent production from the kicker position for years. At just 23 years old, Reichard could be the answer for quite some time.

The longest tenured Vikings kickers since 1998 are Ryan Longwell (five years) and Blair Walsh (four years). There has been a revolving door at the position, and the game has only gotten harder. Kicks from beyond 50-yards are a must, and extra-points are further than ever.

Any longtime Vikings fan can recount the amount of wide-right or wide-left scenarios they have lived through. The more that Reichard can be associated with banging the ball through the uprights, the better. If he never misses a career throughout his career, it is possible that a special helmet may need to be developed to accommodate his hair.

That’s a reality that Reichard and Minnesota would sign up for each season for as long as he’s wearing purple.
