The blows just keep coming for the Minnesota Vikings. Earlier on Wednesday, we found out that rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy will be out for the season, after undergoing successful full meniscus replacement surgery, this morning.

But then, in the afternoon, while participating in joint practice with the Cleveland Browns, things appear to have gotten worse. There is no indication of how bad the injury is yet, but Vikings 2nd year wide receiver Jordan Addison was carted off the field, per multiple reports. Mark Craig (Star Tribune) was on it first.

About an hour after the injury originally occurred, Kevin O’Connell met with media members in Cleveland. There, he informed the small contingent of reporters that Addison injured his ankle.

As a result, Jordan will not participate in the final joint practice between the Vikings and Browns, on Thursday. Fortunately, KOC does not believe this to be all that serious. Of course, we’ve heard that before. Until further notice, cross your fingers, Minnesota sports fans.

Jordan Addison had a phenomenal rookie season. The 22-year-old was pacing went for 911 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns, on 70 receptions. He could be sitting on a massive sophomore season, if he is on the field.

All of this comes following a July DUI arrest in Los Angeles, where Addison’s blood alcohol limit tested above the legal limit of .08. He has a court date set for October and he’s likely facing a 3-game suspension. If that suspension comes down, his guaranteed contract is expected to become non-guaranteed.
