The Minnesota Vikings went to Lambeau Field and bested the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. It was the first trip for Aaron Jones while being on the better side of the rivalry. He continued to show his true colors by being a truly amazing person.

Minnesota Vikings love having Aaron Jones around

A season ago the Minnesota Vikings watched the running back position go up in flames. Alexander Mattison was given the starting role and he never looked like a fit. That was rectified when Aaron Jones signed following a release from the Green Bay Packers. Vikings fans knew him from the other sideline, but they have now seen firsthand he’s the best.

Of course, as Jones mentioned, his new team got the last laugh on Sunday. The Packers may have rostered him for the first 97 games of his career, but the four he has played with Minnesota have yet to result in a defeat. Jones didn’t find the end zone on Sunday, but that wasn’t for a lack of trying. It appeared that Kevin O’Connell was attempting to get in a “Bank Vault” on multiple occassions.

You can bet that Jones will trade the victory for personal accolades any day. Sunday would have been just a bit more special had he found paydirt, however.

Green Bay continues to see Jones be the right choice for Vikings

This offseason the Green Bay Packers asked Aaron Jones to take a pay cut. When he didn’t they sent him packing and instead signed Josh Jacobs. That hasn’t been as fruitful for the organization, and it was on display at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Jones rushed for 93 yards, compared to just 51 for Jacobs.

The Vikings continue to scheme ways for their starting running back to make an impact even if he isn’t being handed the ball. Jones hauled in four receptions for another 46 yards, and accumulated nearly 150 on the day. He has surpassed the century mark once this season, and come close on two other occasions. Injuries have held Jones back throughout his career, but he is currently looking better than ever.

Jacobs went wild in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts. Otherwise he has largely been held in check, and has been held to 51 yards or fewer in two of the first four weeks. Jacobs has a slight advantage over Jones in total rushing yards, 329 to 321, but Jones has four touchdowns while Jacobs has yet to find the end zone.

It remains to be seen how Jones holds up this season, but if this is the expected level of play, Minnesota comes out on top.
