Kirk Cousins Credits Creed for Lifting Vikings Higher Over Bears

It wasn’t pretty, but the Minnesota Vikings got a 19-13 win on Sunday over the Chicago Bears, moving them to 2-4 on the season and keeping their playoff hopes alive for at least one more week.

The offense struggled to gain traction all afternoon, in the winning effort. In fact, it was a defensive fumble recovery touchdown that put the purple on top for good.

Kirk Cousins credits Creed for Minnesota Vikings win

But even more important than a big showing by the Vikings defense, this weekend, was a big change in the team’s pregame music selection. That’s why Kirk Cousins made sure to give proper credit to “Higher” by Creed, for helping to lift his squad over the Bears, in a must-win matchup.

The Vikings’ change in music pace, prior to their win on Sunday, wasn’t spur of the moment. Cousins said that he had implored Garrett Bradbury (locker room DJ apparently) to include, arguably, Creed’s most famous song in this week’s locker room pregame playlist, days ago.

Sure enough, Bradbury delivered. And guess what? According to Cousins, the locker room loved it. What else? The team got a dub. What more proof do you need?

If “Higher” really did help Minnesota topple Chicago, it’s going to take a much more powerful mix next week vs the (5-1) San Francisco 49ers, who will be ready to rectify their sole loss of the season, which came today, vs the Cleveland Browns.

But, as long as Kirk & Co are intentional with their selections, there’s no reason why more Creed can’t lead to more victories. Might I recommend “My Sacrifice“, “One Last Breath” and “Don’t Stop Dancing“… all for obvious reasons.

Hate on the strategy all you want but sometimes winning comes down to more than X’s and O’s. And when your season is on the line, like it was for the Vikings in Chicago and as it will be on Monday Night Football vs the Niners, I’ll take the team with this glory pumping through their veins.
