The Minnesota Vikings had plenty of holes to fill through the NFL Draft process over the weekend. One area that did not get addressed was wide receiver, after Jalen Nailor left for a payday with the Las Vegas Raiders.

That leaves Tai Felton as the next man up on the depth chart, but there’s a belief that’s not good enough for those at TCO Performance Center. Immediately after the draft, one name that was floated (by Alec Lewis – The Athletic) as a possible fit was free agent WR Jauan Jennings.

While there have been questions surrounding how much money the former San Francisco 49er covets, dollars it appears there is mutual interest between both Jennings and the Vikings.

Because according to Adam Schefter, the 28-year-old wideout will be in Eagan this week to visit the TCO Performance Center campus, to see if there might be a fit to be had.

Jauan Jennings has remained relatively durable during his NFL career, playing 15 games in all but one of his five seasons. Last year, Jennings shouldered a greater load for San Francisco, due to the constant drama surrounding Brandon Aiyuk.

Vikings now have more money to get Jennings deal done

Last season, Jennings — a former seventh round draft pick — made $13.681 million with the 49ers to haul in 55 receptions for 643 yards and nine touchdowns. The year prior, he managed 975 yards and another 6 touchdowns, on 77 receptions in 2024.

Not only does Jennings raise the water level for Minnesota over Felton as the WR3, but he represents arguably the best remaining option on the open market.

Trading Jonathan Greenard created right around $16 million in cap space for Minnesota. They still have to sign their draft class, and have other needs to accommodate as well. Still, room for a third wide receiver that wants to play in this offense exists.

Nailor got roughly annually $12 million from the Raiders. Jennings has been seeking $20 million annually. Minnesota won’t be meeting that second number, and even the first one would be quite rich for a third wideout. Jennings represents an upgrade over the departed talent though, and his addition could be a good way to reallocate funds.
