Give Me Fearless Kirk Cousins Over Any QB in the NFL
Happy Wednesday to everyone except the corona bros who have been bullying my favorite NFL QB all day. Minnesota Vikings Quarterback, Kirk Cousins, was on a podcast (10 Questions with Kyle Brandt — recorded in July) when he was asked about COVID-19, masks and his fear of the Coronavirus in general.
Be careful when you ask Kirk Cousins for his opinion. You might just get **gasp** honesty…..

Brandt: “On a spectrum of one — masks are stupid and you’re all a bunch of lemmings — and 10 is I’m not leaving my master bathroom for 10 years, where do you land?”
Cousins: “I’m not going to call anybody stupid for the trouble it could get me in, but I’m about a 0.0001.”
“I want to respect other people’s concerns, but for me personally, if you’re talking no one else can get the virus, what is your concern you could get it? I’d say I’m going to go about my daily life. If I get it, I’m going to ride it out. I’m going to let nature do its course. Survival of the fittest kind of approach and just say if it knocks me out, it knocks me out. I’m going to be OK. Even if I die, I die. I kind of have peace about that. That’s really where I fall on it, so my opinion on wearing a mask is really about being respectful to other people. It really has nothing to do with my personal thoughts.”
Kirk Cousins – 10 Questions w/Kyle Brandt Podcast
Triggered.
If you LISTENED to those comments from Kirk, I doubt you feel offended. So, Cousins isn’t afraid of Coronavirus… that’s no big deal, right? Are you pissed off at everyone who drives a car but isn’t afraid of dying in a car accident? No. That would be silly.
While he doesn’t have any fear of the virus, Kirk Cousins is respectful of those who do. He wears a mask, social distances and washes his hands extra in respect for others. Kirk is like that hero in a war movie. He might not be afraid of the enemy… but he knows you are and he will be there to help protect you.
Unfortunately, that’s not how the woke sports media saw his comments. Some have apologized. Some have deleted tweets. Others just don’t care.

IF U wanna die from Covid that’s fine but it’s about U not wearing
a damn mask & spreading it around to people who’re more susceptible.
189k Americans have died from Covid.
SHOW SOME DAMN COMPASSION KIRK COUSINS!#WednesdayWisdomhttps://t.co/a0ieCpYPUj
Kirk Cousins said “if I die, I die” regarding Coronavirus.@keyshawn & @RealJayWilliams CRUSHED the Vikings QB for that approach. #KJZ pic.twitter.com/Fcqb2GaxWr

Remember when Keyshawn Johnson was cool? Those were the days. Now, he’s just another monotonous voice inside the sports media echo chamber.
I’m not going to spend a lot of time defending Kirk Cousins, in this scenario. He doesn’t need it. The exact quotes are right there, if anyone actually wants to listen (or read). Many people just aren’t interested in listening and some can’t read. There is something important I do want to talk about, though.
The Fearless Leader We Didn’t Know We Had
For the 3 years Kirk has been in a Vikings’ uniform, I’ve had him all wrong. I saw him as a robot figure, incapable of improvising or reacting to an unknown situation. I want to apologize because I was way off.
Every good team needs a fearless leader and Kirk Cousins would drop (or raise) his mask and go face-to-face with COVID, if it was going to help his teammates. Not all are willing to do that. Hell, some players are even opting-out of playing football, they are so afraid.
That’s not a knock on those who have decided not to play. This is a free world and I won’t judge them for their decisions. A lot of people are afraid of coronavirus. We are talking about guys who have put their brains and bodies on the line for their entire life.
Kirk Cousins though… not afraid.
Packer fans want to worship Aaron Rodgers but he was so afraid when COVID hit, that he raced out of Peru in a scene out of “Argo”, according to his own description. He admits nobody was even chasing him (other than COVID) but there was a lot of “worry” (AKA: fear).
Cousins would have helped every single woman and child onto those planes and then drove them single-handedly to their destinations, before coming back and curing COVID himself.
He’d wear a mask if you wanted him to.
Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show (h/t ESPN’s Rob Demovsky), Rodgers compared the situation to the end of the movie Argo: “The scene at the end where they’re racing to the airport. Nobody was chasing us thankfully or holding us. We didn’t have to speak Farsi to get back into the country, but there were some moments where we worried we were not going to get out. It was absolute pandemonium at the airport.
Give Me Kirk or Give Me Death
You can have Pat Mahomes and you can have Lamar Jackson. Take your pick of every single QB in the NFL. I will take MY FEARLESS LEADER, Kirk Cousins, over anyone.
You’re all worried about his anxiety during big football game moments… Meanwhile, Kirk is out here willing to take on a pandemic with his bare face, if it means a chance at a Super Bowl.
Also, Cousins did a zoom conference to “clarify” (mostly double down) on his comments. This is my QB1
