Garrett Bradbury Confesses His Love for Playing with Kirk Cousins
There was no guarantee that Garrett Bradbury would be back in a Minnesota Vikings uniform at all this season. But he and the front office agreed to a 3-year, $15.75 million contract a couple months ago so, on the first day of this offseason’s voluntary program, he was in front of the podium at TCO Performance Center speaking with reporters.
Garrett Bradbury loves playing with Kirk Cousins
The interview was pretty non-eventful except for one question about his continuity with Kirk Cousins. Instead of an easy, cookie-cutter answer, Bradbury took about a minute to explain to the media members assembled in front of him just how much he loves and appreciates his quarterback and everything Kirk does both on and off the field.

“He makes this whole thing go around. Coach [Chris] Kuper talks all the time, because a lot us offensive linemen were drafted here and have been here our whole career. He’s like, ‘You don’t know what it’s like not have a quarterback.’ [Coach Kuper] has been through it. He’s been on a lot of teams. He’s seen five quarterbacks in five years kind of thing. He’s like, ‘You don’t know how good you have it with how talented he is. Not only that but how dialed in he is and how smart he is, getting us all together, getting the playcall, knowing what everyone is doing.’ You kind of take it for granted because it’s what you’re used to.
But then in the offseason you’re training with guys and you hear about how other quarterbacks go about their business, and you’re like, ‘That’s not [how Kirk is].’ He’s the first person in and the last person out. He’s got so much on his plate and he handles it with such class and such professionalism. I love playing with him. He’s the best. I can’t say enough good things about that guy. We’re lucky to have him.”

Good quarterbacks do not grow on trees.
Say what you want about Kirk Cousins but it’s clear that not all quarterbacks or team leaders put in the time and effort to their craft like he does. Anyone who has been around the NFL block, like offensive line coach, Chris Kuper, know how lucky they are to have Kirk as their QB.
And we should realize the same thing, as Minnesota Vikings fans. Most of us know exactly what it’s like to be stuck at the bottom of the quarterback barrel. It’s not fun. Yes, Cousins is 35-years-old. But, good QB’s do not grow on trees. If the Vikings do not have a succession plan in place, they should find a way to keep Kirk on the roster for as long as possible.
