The Minnesota Twins have been hot of late, winning eight of their last 12 games, while taking two-straight series against American League playoff contenders in the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians.

Now 46-48 and on the edge of the AL playoff race, the Twins have done enough to convince Tom Pohlad and the front office that they should finally trade for some legitimate big league help in the bullpen.

Minnesota Twins trade for RHP Tommy Nance

On Friday afternoon, Alden Gonzalez and Jeff Passan (ESPN) are reporting that Minnesota has agreed to a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays for right-handed reliever, Tommy Nance, in exchange for single-A catching prospect Ryan Sprock.

Nance, 35, is a five-year MLB veteran who has appeared in 36 games this season for the Blue Jays, currently touting a 3.82 ERA, 4.20 FIP and 120 ERA+ in 33 innings pitched.

Last year in Toronto, Tommy Nance posted a 1.99 ERA in 32 regular season innings for Toronto, where he has pitched each of the past three seasons. Before that, he was with the Cubs and Marlins. His breaking stuff is absolutely nasty.

Nance, a Long Beach, CA native, went undrafted out of Santa Clara University back in 2013. In his two-plus years of service time, Tommy has pitched 144 total innings, posting a career 4.25 ERA, 1.289 WHIP and 3.72 FIP.

While he isn’t the backend staple that the Minnesota Twins bullpen still needs, there is no doubt Tommy Nance makes this bullpen better. Of course, being it is one of the league’s worst so far this season, that didn’t take much.
