Former MN Twins GM Joins NL Rival

After the Minnesota Twins’ 2025 season fell apart, Rocco Baldelli became the organization’s latest fall guy. But let’s not forget the fall guys that came before him.
In 2024, Rocco kept his job while hitting coaches David Popkins and Derek Shomon were shown the door. The front office took a hit, as well, when general manager Thad Levine was pushed out, and replaced with Jeremy Zoll.
Thad Levine’s name has popped up here and there in recent cycles. But instead of jumping at the first few opportunities that presented themselves, Levine has remained a free agent while building up a new podcast he started called “Roster to Rings“.
Thad Levine hired by Milwaukee Brewers
In 2026, however, Levine will reportedly make his return to baseball. His new team, according to Bob Nightengale (USA Today), is the Twins National League neighbor — the Milwaukee Brewers — where his new title is officially “special advisor to baseball operations”.

Matt Arnold is the Brewers President of Baseball Operations and general manager. He works in conjunction with fellow President of Baseball Operations Rick Schlesinger. Levine will likely work closely with the two of those executives.
When the Minnesota Twins turned over their front office back in October 2016, which had previously been controlled for over a decade by Terry Ryan and a few close friends, Derek Falvey and Thad Levine were seen as an aggressive and progressive hire.
What are the Brewers getting out of former MN Twins executive?
The former Minnesota Twins general manager started his front office career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1998. His next stop was with the Colorado Rockies from 1999-2005, before he worked for the Texas Rangers from 2006 to 2016 when he joined the Twins.
Levine, 54, has always been an extremely eloquent speaker, and he has been around high-performing organizations for most of his career. He’s an amicable individual and his even-keeled demeanor should serve him well in the Milwaukee front office.
In 2025, the Brewers won the NL Central with a 97-65 record. Levine will get two shots at his old team in 2026. The MN Twins go to Milwaukee for three games from May 15-17, before the Brewers return the favor at Target Field from August 7-9.
