Twins Place Eddie Rosario on Outright Waivers
The Minnesota Twins have placed outfielder Eddie Rosario on outright waivers tonight. They have reportedly been trying to trade him for awhile, but no one wants to pay the $10 million arbitration salary it will take to roster him. If no team claims him, there is still a chance he comes back, but it’s unlikely.
Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario is on outright waivers, sources tell The Athletic. The move is the clearest sign yet he will be non-tendered. Twins essentially giving him chance to be claimed by team that might pay him his projected arbitration salary of $9.6M. 1/1

Twins have tried to trade Rosario, but apparently no team was eager to take him at his arb salary. His waivers expire at 1 p.m. tomorrow. If no team claims him, Twins can make case that no club wanted him at arb number, and try to negotiate a deal with him at a lower price. 2/2

No surprise here
This move has been in the making for awhile now. The Twins were also shopping Rosario last offseason but found no takers. After the shortened 60-game season that saw a lot less revenue, Eddie’s return seemed even less likely. Rosario is coming off a 57-game season, where he hit .257, jacked 13 home runs and drove in 42 RBI.
If Eddie is out for good, The Twins will look to replace him with a prospect like Alex Kirilloff or a veteran on a cheap, one year deal. But, Kirilloff sure seems ready to take over. Brent Rooker and Trevor Larnach will be brought up as possible options as well.

So long Trevor May…
Waiving Eddie Rosario wasn’t the only piece of Minnesota Twins news on Tuesday. Setup man, Trevor May also signed a 2-year contract with the New York Mets this afternoon.
The Minnesota front office allowed their 6-year veteran to hit free agency without offering him a contract and he wasn’t there for long. Trevor still remained an option for the Twins bullpen as recent has this morning, according to most reports, but in the days that followed their playoff losses vs Houston, May didn’t seem very confident in that happening.
Reliever Trevor May and the New York Mets are in agreement on a two-year contract, sources tell ESPN. Deal is pending a physical and could be official as soon as tomorrow. @AnthonyDiComo and @martinonyc were on it.

Update: Dec. 2 | 5:00 PM
Eddie Rosario cleared waivers on Wednesday afternoon, meaning no teams were willing to take on his arbitration contract. The Twins could sign them for less than that now, if he agreed to terms before non-tenders are due at 7 PM CT, but they aren’t expected to (per multiple reports).

Twins intend to officially non-tender Eddie Rosario tonight after he cleared waivers, and then he will be a free agent @Ken_Rosenthal and @BNightengale on it
