Minnesota Twins Land Another 2025 MLB All-Star Nod

Watch out, the Minnesota Twins have been playing a little bit better, of late. Entering Wednesday night against the Chicago Cubs, the 44-47 Twins have won three of their last four games and five of their last seven.

If they want to keep team president Derek Falvey from putting up a “For Sale” sign before the MLB Trade Deadline, they’ll have to continue to win more games than they lose between now and July 31.

Should they stumble yet again, we could see the Minnesota Twins go into sell mode fast. In fact, a new report dropped late this morning on MLB Network that teams are already calling on some of the Twins’ most talented players, including starting pitcher Joe Ryan.

Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan selected to first MLB All-Star Game

But before the Boston Red Sox or any other team are able to get serious about offers for Minnesota’s stand-in ace, he’ll play his first ever All-Star Game in a Twins uniform.

After being snubbed from the initial 2025 American League roster, Joe Ryan was informed Wednesday that he’s been selected as a late add for the AL, joining outfielder previously announced Byron Buxton, who got the call for his second Mid-Summer Classic earlier this week.

Knowing what we do now, Joe Ryan’s addition to the AL roster was foreshadowed earlier in the day, when his scheduled start against the Pittsburgh Pirates (and fellow 2025 All-Star Paul Skenes) was moved up from Saturday to Friday.

Ryan deserves 2025 All-Star nod

It’s no surprise teams are interested in acquiring Ryan at the trade deadline, just like it’s no surprise he’s a late addition to the All-Star Game. Every year this dude takes the mound, Joe becomes a better Major League pitcher.

In 2025, at 29-years-old, Joe Ryan has returned from a major August shoulder surgery looking better than he had any time prior to that injury. Through 18 appearances so far this season, the former Cal State – Stanislaus standout and 2018 7th round draft pick holds a 2.76 ERA, 0.891 WHIP and 3.25 FIP in 104.1 innings pitched.

With their ace Pablo Lopez and young flamethrower Zebby Matthews went on the IL with shoulder injuries of their own at the start of June, Ryan has single-handedly kept the 2025 Minnesota Twins rotation from completely falling apart. Now, he’ll be rewarded in Atlanta next week.
