Shake Milton Would Welcome a Trade Out of Minnesota
With the NBA trade deadline looming less than a month away, questions abound regarding the Minnesota Timberwolves’ plans. They currently sit atop the Western Conference but wins have been harder to come by lately.
Shake Milton’s Struggles Raise Questions
At the end on June, Shake Milton agreed to a 2-year $10 million deal with the Timberwolves. Many thought, at the time, that Shake would play a valuable bench role for the Wolves this season. A guard who can shoot, play the point and defend, the marriage seemed like a no-brainer.

And Milton got good run early, he struggled shooting the basketball and, as others around him started providing more valuable minutes, he saw his role disappear into the new year.
NBA Trade Deadline incoming
Early trade deadline insights provided by Darren Wolfson (KSTP, SKOR North) on the Mackey and Judd show Tuesday suggest that Shake Milton’s departure from the Timberwolves seems imminent, a move that both parties would welcome.
“I think the Wolves end up trading Shake Milton but I also sense that is something he would happily welcome. That it hasn’t worked out for him. He was given enough playing time early and just couldn’t make shots. They need a little bit more bench power, they can use some shooting help. You can make a case for a backup point guard, you know a guy like Monte Morris. I mean, there’s any number of names. Doug Mcdermott, I think, would help them. Now that Ja Morant is out for the year, does Memphis trade Luke Kennard? So there’s a bunch of names you could keep an eye on”

Possible trade targets for the Minnesota Timberwolves
It appears that Tim Connelly and the Timberwolves are gearing up for a move. So, what could this entail? Imagine the Wolves acquiring a player like Monte Morris, Doug McDermott, or even Luke Kennard. Enhancing bench depth becomes increasingly crucial as the season progresses and heads into the playoffs.
While the Wolves, currently leading the Western Conference, might not make any drastic moves before the deadline, securing an additional rotation player to fill the void left by Milton could prove to be a significant boost.
