While a San Antonio Spurs rookie was dubbed the “alien” this year, there may not have been a more exciting terrestrial across the NBA than Minnesota Timberwolves’ superstar Anthony Edwards. His personality is among the greatest things going for the league.

Despite the Minnesota Timberwolves looking all sorts of lost in the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, Anthony Edwards never stopped being who he is, exuding confidence both on the floor and during his postgame press conferences.

Anthony Edwards Ready to Make Winning Normal for Minnesota Timberwolves

If there is anything the Minnesota Timberwolves have been consistent at during franchise history, it would be the roller coaster that spends way too much time at the bottom of its track. Changing coaches and shuffling stars, the franchise has never found its footing.

Anthony Edwards plans to change all of that, much like Steph Curry did in Golden State. That’s why, immediately after bowing out of the Western Conference Finals, Ant was ready to pretty much supplant the Minnesota Timberwolves right back in the final four next season.

Of course that’s a smart suggestion as there is no benefit to saying the Minnesota Timberwolves will be worse and fall off, but Edwards throwing it out there again puts it on the record.

At 22 years old, Edwards continues to back a big game off the court with an even more impressive one on it. An offseason of building, and an opportunity to reload means that his postseason prediction for next year could very-well end upright.

Should Minnesota Timberwolves find different help for Anthony Edwards

If the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to repeat as a representative in the Western Conference Finals, they probably need to find another running mate for Anthony Edwards. His presence offensively was stymied by a Dallas Mavericks squad that simply turned a blind eye to the majority of his teammates.

Role players like Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels are integral to winning throughout the season, but having someone else in attack mode constantly is a must.

A significant move would have to include major keys to Minnesota’s success form the 2023-24 season. The most likely outgoing trade centerpiece would be Karl-Anthony Towns.

KAT hasn’t proven he can be the Robin Minnesota needs for their Ant-Man superhero, and while there are probably those within the organization who would rather have another backcourt scorer than Towns.

Mike Conley isn’t getting any younger, and if Chris Finch has a pair of players he can count on for 60 points on a nightly basis, then the allocation of minutes and figuring out the rotation becomes that much more simple.

Does that mean the Wolves should call up Phoenix and try to trade KAT for Kevin Durant? Maybe tap on Cleveland to see if they have Darius Garland or Donovan Mitchell on their trade block? Those are the questions that remain to be answered.

Would a trade for any of the above superstars (or someone else) make more sense than running it back another year with Karl? That is yet to be seen, but there is no doubt that there are conversations happening behind closed doors that address those exact questions.

Anthony Edwards will have the opportunity to play with a lot of other stars other than KAT, including Durant, during the upcoming Olympics in Paris.

You can bet on that serving him well when the NBA regular season kicks off next year, but could he also use that as a platform to help him find another partner better capable of bring the Wolves to the promised land too?
