MN Timberwolves Chasing LeBron James

After the Minnesota Timberwolves bowed out of the playoffs this season, everyone was expecting a lot of turnover on the roster this offseason. And while most moves aren’t official yet, that’s exactly what we have witnessed.
Julius Randle is off to Brooklyn, Naz Reid to Charlotte. In their place is controversial point guard, LaMelo Ball. With all the frontcourt pieces that have departed town, the Wolves are now in need of big help.
While the frigid winter temperatures endured around Target Center aren’t ideal for prospective free agents, there are few teams in the NBA that offer a better landing spot for any available veteran looking to chase a ring.

And that brings us to LeBron James, who is moving on from the Los Angeles Lakers after eight seasons in Tinseltown. On its face, even if the basketball fit is hypothetically perfect, the idea of LeBron choosing Minnesota over the other bevy of teams who will surely be interested in his 41-year-old services next season.
Insider drops MN Timberwolves as LeBron James landing spot
However, according to Sam Amick (The Athletic), it sounds like Wolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly has somehow found a way to wriggle into conversations with James’ agent, Rich Paul, as a possible landing spot for the 22x All-Star, 21x All-NBA, 4x MVP and 4x NBA Champ.
“What’s more, the Warriors do not appear to have clarity yet regarding James’ plans. Cleveland and Miami are often cited as realistic landing spots as well, and the Minnesota Timberwolves are known to have interest if he felt like shocking the basketball world with that sort of move.
It seems like we’re heading toward another LeBron free agency in which, to some degree, he leaves everyone guessing until the end.”

As Amick lays out, LeBron ending up in Minnesota would absolutely shock the basketball world. He has played in the midwest before, but he is from Ohio. The only reason for choosing Minnesota would be basketball, and it would represent quite the endorsement on one Anthony Edwards.
You don’t have to squint hard in order to find a fit for James in any rotation, even at 42 years old, which he will be by the end of next season. Although he played in just 60 games for the Lakers last year, he still averaged 20.9 points (51.5% FG), 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game.
With the durability issues that surround LaMelo Ball, adding LeBron’s aging body could create concerns for the rotation. However, if Chris Finch got that MN Timberwolves group to the playoffs, it’d be hard to argue against just how scary they would be.
Efforts being made. Still a long-shot. But they're trying. Put it this way: it's more on my radar this minute compared to what I told you many hours ago.

MN Timberwolves can afford LeBron James happiness
Minnesota Nice has long been a moniker for this state, and it should be a selling point to LeBron James as well. The legend has earned over $580 million just from his on-court pursuits. According to Brian Windhorst (ESPN), his next landing spot will be about fit rather than his bankroll.
That’s good news for a Timberwolves team that has constraints surrounding the salary cap.
“LeBron’s No. 1 priority for this season is happiness. … It’s not gonna be necessarily who's got the most money to offer.”
