The Government Recommends 82 Degrees at Night and We Recommend Defunding

Have you EVER seen the thermostat in your house say “78” for your current temperature? What about “82”? Have you ever turned it to “85” when you’ve left?
Your answer should be “FUCK NO” to all of the questions above because this is 2019. Our forefathers didn’t argue in sweaty white wigs and boil in summer suit jackets so future America could deny everything they faught and perspired for… literally.
Apparently, “Energy Star” (a joint federal program run by the DOE and the Environmental Protection Agency) wants you to take the greatest thing created by mankind since fire, and render it obsolete. Just give it back. Tell Willis Carrier to go fuck himself, apparently. Here it is… just look at this stupidity (via consumerreports.org):
Energy Star, a joint federal program run by the DOE and the Environmental Protection Agency, recommends that for optimal cooling and energy efficiency, the coolest you should keep your house is 78° F—and that’s only when you’re at home and awake.
A smart or programmable thermostat makes it easy to match your cooling needs to your schedule, but you can make the adjustments manually if you don’t have one for your central air system. Try the following settings:
• 78° F when you’re home
• 85° F when you’re at work or away
• 82° F when you’re sleepingIf you’re more heat-tolerant, you can experiment with the temperature, raising it 1° F at a time to see how it affects your comfort and your budget; 3 percent savings per degree adds up pretty quickly.
If you aren’t comfortable at 78° F, lower the temperature a degree at a time and let your system reach the new setting before ratcheting it down further.
President Trump, I think we’ve found a governement program, that we can all agree, needs to be defunded.
The only place I could sleep in a house that’s set at 82 ridiculous degrees, is the freezer. And, all I want to do after a long day at work or out with my kids (shit, even if I’m out golfing in 90-degree heat), is come home and relax in my cool 85 degree house just so I can’t tell the difference between my where my tears end and my sweat begins.
This is especially stupid in Minnesota because your heating bill in peak winter time likely doesn’t look that much different than your electricity bill in peak summertime. Here in Minnesota, our energy-saving months are in September/October and April/May/June. Outside of those months you pay for heating and cooling. It’s just built into your living costs… just like your mortgage/rent.. or your car… or your phone.. or food… or water… or trash… or recycle… BECAUSE THIS IS 2019 AND WE LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES WHERE A/C IN THE SUMMER AND HEAT IN THE WINTER ARE ESSENTIALS (and phones all of the time).
I’m so glad that we live in a free country that is run by its citizens and not its government. Yes, it is sad that our tax dollars are going to stupid governernment programs like this, but at least the government doesn’t have the ability to force these changes upon us at a federal level.
Because we are the land of the free, and home of the air conditioned.
