PGA Tour Bets That Are Going to Make Me Rich This Weekend During the RBC Heritage

The PGA Tour is officially back and rolling into week 2 of its return. This Thursday, they’ll tee off for the RBC Heritage at Harbour Towns Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, SC. The field is ridiculous (again), boasting all of the top-5 golfers worldwide.

It isn’t all good news, though. Despite his yacht reportedly seen heading that way, this weekend’s field won’t include Tiger Woods. Nobody’s entirely sure why Tiger hasn’t played in either of these startup tournaments… but, after @RiggsBarstool tracked Tiger’s boat for days, it stopped short of South Carolina.

RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links

Harbour Town Golf Links is a par-71 course that runs 7,099 yards, making it one of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour. That means finesse and shot selection, matter more than power and strength. This tournament sets up well for a dark horse to win… most years. In fact, the last four winners of this tournament have been first-time PGA Tour winners. Most RBC fields don’t look like this one does, though.

So let’s make some bets and put a future mortgage payment on the line! Betting on sports makes everything better, right? Before we get to the picks, there is one golfer to keep an eye on, even if you don’t throw money down on him.

Bryson Dechambeau is a very popular pick this week, at 16-1. He came out of quarantine at Colonial looking absolutely jacked and was hitting BOMBS off the tee. Because of the numerous trees that line both sides of the fairways at Harbour Town, a straight shot off the tee to the center of the fairway, is a must. This puts power-hitters, like Bryson, at a disadvantage.

Dechambeau aside, here are GoldyLock’s Picks for this weekend:

Rory McIlroy

To win: 11-1, +1200

The world’s number 1 golfer was as hot as you could find them, pre-quarantine, finishing top-5 in his last 6 events before last weekend. Rory is one of the most consistent golfers on tour, and his accuracy with the driver should be especially helpful. He has a good chance to pick up the win, if he can knock down some putts. Hopefully, Rory got all of his bad holes out of the way at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Justin Thomas

Top-5 Finish: +280

Fresh off of calling Charles Barkley a fatass on live TV, JT came out hot shooting a 6-under 64 in round 1 at Colonial. Thomas doesn’t normally hit bombs off the tee. He does however average 4.81 birdies per round, which leads the PGA. This will help him at a course where accuracy and finesse are crucial. A top 5 finish for Thomas is a pretty good bet.

Patrick Reed

Top-10 Finish: +280

Golf makes it tough for to be hated, Patrick Reed has done that. From being kicked off the golf team at Georgia, to being a cocky youngster on tour, Reed is by no means a fan favorite. However, he can putt with the best of them. With the power hitters already at a disadvantage in the RBC Heritage, Reed is a good play with his odds. Look for a top 10 finish from Patrick.

Luke Donald

Top 10 Finish: +1100

Our dark horse for the tournament is the 369th ranked golfer in the world, Luke Donald. Why go with a golfer ranked so low in the world? Donald has an unreal history at the RBC Heritage. Luke has 7 top-3 finishes in his career at Harbour Town Golf Links. His prior success, along with his ranking of 225th in strokes gained off the tee, proves that a power driver is almost irrelevant at this course. If you are looking to make a small bet with a potential high reward, a simple $10 win bet could win you $1,500 here. We will stick with a top 10 on this horse.
