Twins Retire Joe Mauer’s #7 and Discount Spring Tickets 19%

In another ode to the now-retired Joe Mauer, the Minnesota Twins retired #7 today. They made the announcement, to Joe’s surprise apparently, in a ceremony that took place at Cretin Durham Hall. Joe Mauer’s reaction: WOW.

They will hold a ceremony and put Joe’s number up next to Pucket, Hrbek, Killebrew, Carew, Oliva, Blyleven, and Tom Kelly before one of the games this season at Target Field.

All that’s left is a street name and a statue in front of Target Field. Do you think we can get those things done before the season? We seem to be in an awfully big hurry to coat gold over Joe Mauer before we apparently forget about him…
