Royce Lewis Gets Immediate Call Up After Rehab Assignment

The Minnesota Twins are calling up Royce Lewis, who is eligible to come off the injured list on Monday. As recent as Sunday afternoon, the Twins were steadfast in their uncertainty on when Lewis would get the call insisting he could be optioned back to Triple-A St. Paul after his rehab stint expired. Instead, he will play his first non-rehab games with a Twins jersey on his back.

The Twins are activating Royce Lewis from the 60-day IL. He’ll be available tomorrow in Houston.

I’d imagine Royce Lewis will be in the starting lineup on Monday. They aren’t calling him up to sit on the bench. After another poor offensive performance on Sunday in a 3-0 loss to Toronto, they need all the help they can get.
