What would Vikings Training Camp be without some offensive line concern and a major controversy for us to talk about? Ask Mike Zimmer. He was creating Anthony Barr trade rumors earlier in the week…

Easton, Pat Elflein and Mike Remmers have all missed various amounts of time throughout training camp. Elflein is working his way back from the gruesome end to his season in the NFC Championship Game (nobody cares Eagles fans) while Remmers is working back from an injury he suffered early in camp. Needless to say the offensive line is a little thin. So, with more offensive line concerns than we’ve even had in recent years, someone needed to provide the fireworks we’ve all been missing. Enter……….Richie Incognito?

If you aren’t familiar with the escapades of Richie Incognito, a simple google search will get you caught up on a laundry list of red flags that just scream bad news for the Vikings. Like this, and this, oh and this one too. Vikings fans were pretty split on the idea of adding Incognito. Some fans noted the current state of the offensive line depth as a good reason to add a player of Incognito’s caliber (at least in on the field production when he was at his prime). Others raised valid concerns about how it would affect the locker room.

Oh wait Mike Zimmer wants the microphone?

Side note: Mike Zimmer is the GOAT.

Wait, wait, wait — so Zimmer says there is no interest whatsoever in Incognito? Is Zimmer telling the truth or is Incognito?

HEY RICHIE

Note: Incognito deleted the original tweet he posted saying “MIKE ZIMMER IS A FUCKING LIAR”

Incognito also attempted to show his receipt, posting screenshots of text messages (that have since been deleted) he exchanged with recently deceased Vikings offensive line coach Tony Sparano. Sparano appears to show a desire for Incognito to play in Minnesota, which is understandable considering the history the two have going back to Sparano’s head coaching stint in Miami. The conversation, however, never gets to any point that could be seen as substantial interest or materializing to anything even close to a visit.

First, Richie held his ground and tried to hit back.

Also while we are on the subject of posting texts from a person who just recently died:

Well said.

And finally, the apology:

So it appears as though the Vikings will not be signing Richie any time soon, but we definitely can’t get through a single training camp without something ridiculous happening.
