P.J. Fleck Announces He’s Staying At Minnesota Despite UCLA Rumors

Today, P.J. Fleck, the head coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers football team, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming 2024 season on Twitter. In the process, he revealed that he won’t be going anywhere this offseason except for his wedding anniversary trip.

Speculation had been circulating regarding Fleck’s potential candidacy for the UCLA coaching position following former head coach Chip Kelly’s departure to become the offensive coordinator at Ohio State. Yet, Fleck is ten toes in with the Gophers.

As mentioned, Fleck reiterated that these events unfolded while he was enjoying an anniversary trip with his wife. Similar situations have arisen in the past, and Fleck has promptly addressed them fairly quickly.

Once more, he swiftly clarified the situation, reassuring Gopher fans. Some fans became anxious when they thought they had traced Fleck’s flight to LA, but this turned out to be entirely inaccurate.

Fleck is set to return for the 2024 season following the successful assembly of a strong recruiting class. Additionally, there’s excitement as the team will have the chance to face UCLA this season, on October 12th the Gophers travel to the Rose Bowl stadium as UCLA joins the Big Ten.

Fleck is 50-34 at Minnesota and 29-32 in the Big Ten, along with being 5-0 in bowl games with the Gophers.
