Wild’s Hopes Dashed Again as they Fail to Land Top Pick in Draft Lottery
The Minnesota Wild saw their season end on Friday against Vancouver in the qualifying round of the NHL Playoffs. Tonight they found out their slot in the NHL draft. The Wild entered the night with a 12.5% chance of landing the top pick and a chance to draft consensus top pick Alexis Lafreniere. But as things typically work out for Minnesota teams they ended up picking ninth. The New York Rangers ended up winning the draft lottery.

They now have the #1 overall pick in 2020 Draft.
The Wild will pick 9th.
Of course.
At ninth the Wild get into the top 10 for the first time since 2012 when they selected Matt Dumba. They are looking for a second impact player this offseason after finally being able to get Kirill Kaprizov over from Russia. With Kaprozov and emerging superstar Kevin Fiala, the Wild look to have a bright future ahead of them. The job now falls to general manager Bill Guerin to further mold the roster.
Fuck New York.
