MN Wild Star Trying to Hang at ACC Celeb Golf Tournament

Minnesota Wild Olympic star Matt Boldy is one of the fastest-rising young hockey players on the planet.
Last season, the 25-year-old hit a new career high with 42 goals, to go with 43 assists for a total of 85 points, to go along with the Gold Medal he helped Team USA earn for the first time since 1980.
But if you didn’t know, Matt Boldy is an elite amateur golfer in the offseason. How good, you ask? According to the internet, he plays with a +2.5 to +3 handicap and even had dreams of going pro not that long ago.
Well, Boldy is getting his first ever shot to play in the prestigious “American Century Championship” celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe (CA), where he is testing his skills against the best celebrity golfers in the country.

The “ACC” brings over 100 celebs together for three highly competitive rounds that benefit charity and gauge which high profile athlete/actor/singer/etc. can swing the sticks best. Boldy played round one on Friday with two of his best friends, the Tkachuk brothers.
When the sun set on day one, Matt Boldy found himself tied for 13th, with a score of 15. And some of the shots he made to get there were absolutely incredible. Boldy Eagled a chip shot on 18 and saved himself from the bleachers (literally) on another.
He may not be in the top 10, but nobody on the course had more fun than Matt and the Tkachuk bros yesterday.

The kid is built like a brick shit house so it’s no surprise he can launch monster drives. However, those who play with Matt gush over his touch around the green, not to mention his putter… which might as well be a sniper. You saw that a couple of times in the video above.
Scoring at the ACC is a little different. Higher scores are better, at least on the scoresheet, where a bogey is worth 0 points and an Eagle is worth 6 points. Anything worse than a bogey gets you negative points.
| Hole Result | Points |
|---|---|
| Albatross | 10 |
| Hole-in-One | 8 |
| Eagle | 6 |
| Birdie | 3 |
| Par | 1 |
| Bogey | 0 |
| Dbl Bogey | -2 |

After his first round score of 15, it will be nearly impossible for Matt Boldy to work his way up the leaderboard and contend for the 2026 American Century Championship crown, but he will start round two (of three) on Saturday at 10:55 a.m. CDT.
Boldy has lots of work to do…
Retired hockey player Joe Pavelski won the whole tournament last year, and currently leads the field entering day two, with a point total through 18 holes of 29.
Other celebrities sitting ahead of Boldy include “one of us” Mardy Fish (27) — a former professional tennis player who won the event in 2024 — Steph Curry (25) and three-time champ Tony Romo (23).

Homegrown former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen is right behind Matt Boldy, with a score of 13. A bit further down the leaderboard, you will find Joe Mauer tied for 51st place, with a score of -1, which isn’t the type of score you want for this tournament.
