New MN Wild Injury Updates Raise More Concerns Before Game 4

The Minnesota Wild have a second off-day in a row Thursday, before they get back on the Grand Casino Arena ice on Friday for a critical Game 4 against the Dallas Stars that isn’t technically a win or stay home scenario… but sure feels like one.
Down 2-1, and ready to go back to Dallas this weekend for game 5, the Minnesota Wild won’t just be up against the ropes with a loss tonight, they’d be all tangled up in them, with a referee nowhere in sight.
Without a doubt, the Wild have struggled the last two games, since NHL regular season hits leader Yakov Trenin (413) and Kirill Kaprizov side kick, Mats Zuccarello, in the lineup after they suffered injuries in the first two games of the series.
Minnesota Wild injury update brings more questions than answers
And unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot of good news to be had on the MN Wild injury front today at practice, where Trenin was nowhere to be found and Zuccy skated by himself, before the team did.
After, Michael Russo (The Athletic) reported that Yakov Trenin is officially OUT for Friday. Mats Zuccarello is QUESTIONABLE. Other injury notes Russo mentioned via X included a maintenance day for Zach Bogosian and a report that Marcus Johannsson got the wind knocked out of him, but seemed okay after.
Zuccarello questionable for tomorrow; Trenin out; Bogosian maintenance; Johansson got wind knocked out of him in practice but is OK

Given Mats’ is dealing with a head injury, you’d think he’d have to skate with the team tomorrow morning, before he’d be thrown out onto the ice in St. Paul for a critical Game 4, but we’ll have to wait another 24-ish hours before we find that out.
And the Trenin injury sucks. Not only does he bring leveled measure of heaviness to the Wild when he is on the ice, but his hit production was carrying over beautifully from the regular season to postseason. In game one back in Dallas, Minnesota’s only win so far of the series, Trenin collected 13 hits.
Wild need Zuccarello and Trenin back
Meanwhile, the MN Wild offense has not been the same since Mats Zuccarello — who collected 54 points (13 assists, 15 goals) in the regular season. Not only did Zuccy have three assists before he was knocked out of the lineup in game one by Stars’ defenseman, Tyler Myers.

But Zuccy’s absence has been felt beyond his own production. Since he left the lineup, his best friend and linemate Kirill Kaprizov has been a shell of his Game 1 self too.
After scoring a goal and assisting on two more, on Opening Night of the Minnesota Wild vs Dallas Stars series back in Texas, Kaprizov has mustered just one assist since (game 2).
