Kirill Kaprizov Out 1-2 Weeks, Filip Gustavsson Needs Another MRI
The Minnesota Wild were one of the hottest teams in NHL before the Winnipeg Jets swept them in a home-and-home regular season series over the weekend. To pour some salt on their wounds, they lost Kirill Kaprizov and Filip Gustavsson to injuries in the first matchup.
Kirill Kaprizov, Filip Gustavsson Injury Updates
On Monday, we got updates on both players via Michael Russo (The Athletic), who reported via Twitter that Kaprizov’s injury is expected to cost him 1-2 weeks.
Gustavsson was placed on Injured Reserve and his timeline for return is a bit cloudier. Russo reports that he is in need of another MRI and will be out at least a couple of weeks.
Hearing Filip Gustavsson is going for another MRI tomorrow and will miss at least a couple weeks. Kirill Kaprizov is out 1-2 weeks.

Here are the cross checks that forced Kaprizov off the ice.
The 2nd cross check to Kaprizov’s back from Brenden Dillion is where it looks like he did the most damage, not good at all #mnwild, refs should be shameful for not calling anything pic.twitter.com/F11iU4nHrG

Minnesota Wild season still alive
While this isn’t great news, it could have been a lot worse. Kirill has dealt with back problems dating back to last season and this is the second time he will miss games this season with the same type of ailment. But as long as the Wild can keep their record somewhat intact during his absence, he’ll return with plenty left to play for.

We’ll have to stand by and wait for the results of Gustavsson’s MRI but anytime a pro athlete needs a second MRI, it’s probably not good news. Hopefully that’s not true this time around.
