House Fire Kills MN Wild Reporter and Her Kids

On Friday, Minnesota Wild reporter Jessi Pierce (NHL.com, SKOR North) went to TRIA Rink to take in Wild practice with her fellow media members, like any normal work day.
After, she and her three kids (Hudson, Cayden and Avery) stopped at “Cup and Cone” for some delicious treats and wholesome family fun, on the nicest day of the year so far. Without a doubt, it was a pretty great way to celebrate spring.
MN Wild reporter Jessi Pierce and kids found dead in house fire
Unfortunately, Jessi and her children would not live to see the rest of it. At some point during the night, Pierce’s single-family home in White Bear Lake caught fire. Tragically, nobody survived.
According to local FOX 9, the fire department arrived on the scene at 5:30 AM with the house engulfed in flames. Inside, they found the remains of Pierce, her kids and the family dog. The Minnesota Wild have confirmed the horrible tragedy.
The White Bear Lake Fire Department said its crews responded to a reported fire at a single-family home in the 2100 block of Richard Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. on Saturday. Neighbors who called 911 reported seeing flames coming through the roof of the house and said there were likely people inside.
Arriving firefighters then “found a fully involved structure fire” and tried to suppress it. Firefighters then found a deceased adult as well as three deceased children inside the house. Crews also located a dead dog.

Friends, family and hockey community mourn loss of Pierce
Sunday morning, those who knew and worked close with Jessi — including Michael Russo (The Athletic), 10K Takes and Pat Micheletti (among many others) — mourned her passing on social media.
It sounds like Wild beat reporters and many of those close to Pierce found out last night at Grand Casino arena during the Minnesota Wild vs Dallas Stars game.
Across the internet, the hockey world — both locally and nationally — is reeling. Pierce and her three children leave behind her husband, their father, Mike, whose entire life was just upended in the worst possible way.
Our community lost a real one this weekend. Someone who's been a dear friend of ours from the very beginning.

Yesterday was an absolute nightmare and it hasn’t subsided. Jessi was so much more than just a contributor to us, she was a friend, a super mom, and a wife. She commanded every room she walked in. I was literally booking a tee time with her on Thursday. I’m heartbroken.

Family isn’t always blood, but the people you choose and that couldn’t have been more true. Jessi was like another big sister to me. Don’t go to sleep without saying I love you. Don’t walk out the door before saying I love you. God bless the Minnesota goodbye & the extra time we take around here to walk out the door after spending time with people we love.

Jessi co-hosted my 1st show at Skor. She was warm, funny, quick on her feet. I loved bantering with her. She was exceptional.

I got to know @jessi_pierce a bit over the years. She was among my favorite people to get Wild info from because she did it her way. She paved her own path, and the love she had for that team and sport was unmatched.
