MN Wild Expected to Re-Sign Two Grizzled Veterans

Well, the Minnesota Wild seemingly failed in their pursuit for Dylan Larkin. With NHL free agency kicking off at 11 a.m. today, president of hockey operations Bill Guerin will instead be shopping on the open market for top-six forward help.
And boy oh boy, do they ever need it, after losing Mats Zuccarello and Vladimir Tarasenko to free agency and Marcus Johansson to Sweden.
But before that, the Minnesota Wild have reportedly made handshake agreements with a couple of pending UFA veterans who are looking to return for next season.
Zach Bogosian, Nick Foligno returning to Minnesota Wild
According to what Michael Russo (The Athletic) is hearing, the MN Wild are bringing back depth defender Zach Bogosian and “all signs point to” elder brother (F) Nick Foligno doing the same.
All signs point this morning to Nick Foligno continuing his NHL career and returning to the #mnwild.

Also hear Zach Bogosian will be forgoing free agency and re-signing with the Wild.
Zach Bogosian has played for the Minnesota Wild since the 2023-24 season, where he has played 183 games, totaling 9 goals, 27 assists, 233 hits and 198 blocks in 16:21 average TOI. His +/- is +13 in that time.
The decision for Bogosian, who turns 36 years old on July 15, came down to retirement or returning to Minnesota. From the sounds of it, he has chosen the latter.
Foligno brothers reunited again
Meanwhile, Nick Foligno, 38, was making the same type of career/life decisions as Bogosian. Even though Nick is a couple years older than Zach, it always felt like he would jump on another opportunity to play with younger brother Marcus, for just the second time in his NHL career.
The two played their first games together last season, after the MN Wild acquired Nick at the trade deadline. He went on to score 1 goal and total 4 points (12:19 TOI) in 17 regular season games. In the playoffs, he stepped up, potting 2 goals and adding an assist while averaging 12:05 TOI.
More than anything (just like Bogosian), elder Foligno makes our favorite hockey team tougher.

While these two re-signings won’t dictate Minnesota’s success next season, they’ll certainly help win games on the edges. Now, it’s time for Billy to find some top-6 forwards… with limited funds.
