Vikings OC Wes Phillips Pleads DWI Down to Careless Driving
Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Wes Phillips was arrested and charged with a DWI in December, charges he initially plead not guilty to. On Thursday, however, he plead guilty to a reduced charge of Careless Driving.
Wes Phillips DWI Pleaded Down to Reckless Driving
Court documents show, according to Kevin Siefert (ESPN) that the original charges were 4th-degree DWI and that his reduced charge will cost the Vikings OC just $378 in fees and 8 hours of community service.
Per court documents, Vikings OC Wes Phillips will plead guilty to an amended charge of careless driving stemming from his Dec. 8 arrest. He was originally charged was 4th degree DWI. Will pay $378 in fees + 8 hours community work. Hearing scheduled for tomorrow.

Wes (44 y/o) is son of long-time defensive coordinator and former NFL head coach, Wade Phillips. He’s been an NFL coach for 17 seasons, the first of which came under his father’s Dallas Cowboys in 2007, when he was hired as a quality control assistant on offense.

Prior to his NFL coaching career, Phillips graduated from UTEP, where he spent most of his college spent most of his college years as a backup quarterback. He finally won the starting job as a senior, throwing for 1,839 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
After trying to make it in Arena Football for a couple of years, Phillips decided he was more fit to be a coach, than he was a player. This appears to be his first time with any legal troubles or arrests related to drinking alcohol.
