Vikings Sign Another Minnesota Wide Receiver to Futures Contract

Despite my biased opinion, Sean McVay of the L.A. Rams is expected to be named the NFL’s 2017-18 Coach of the Year. As a result, you can expect other teams in the league to explore unproven, 30 something year-old, superior football minds in hopes of landing the next “Whiz Kid.“

While the Rams are setting trends on the sidelines, Minnesota is doing it on the field. Adam Thielen’s Pro Bowl season has teams actively scouting current and former Division 2/3 WR’s. In fact, they were exploring so aggressively, we had to pay a couple of more dollars than anticipated to lock up this guy:

It was announced on Wednesday afternoon, that the Vikings signed the CFL star to a futures deal. Meaning, when the 2018 offseason officially begins, the D3 product will be on the 90 man roster. As for where his journey takes him from there, only time will tell.

There is a lot more to Brandon Zylstra than just being a motorcycle company’s dream. The 23 year-old WR is a native of Spicer, MN. After his time at New London-Spicer High School, Zylstra decided to play college ball for Concordia (Moorehead).

The former Cobbers’ standout amassed 1,932 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in his 29 game college tenure.

Okay, okay. We get it bro…. you’re ripped. Tone it down a notch, please. You’re embarrassing the rest of us.

At 6’2″ 215 LBS (1.88 meters, 97.5 kilograms for our Canuck audience), Zylsta was an absolute force during the Canadian Football League’s 2017 season. After a quiet year the season prior, he amassed 1,687 receiving yards this year to lead their league. Mix in his 100 catches and 5 touchdowns, and it’s easy to see why the FORMER Edmonton Eskimo was a CFL All-Star.

Small risk, huge potential reward. You never know how these type of signings will pan out…
