Vikings Release Unofficial Roster Leading Up to Denver Game Saturday

Here’s a little news drop from the Vikings as we enter into Wednesday. The Vikings have released their unofficial roster before the preseason opener on Saturday in Denver. It’s not a big deal but a few things stick out.

You see all of the injured offensive lineman listed as starters but we all hold our breath as we wait for them to return from injury and pray that Easton’s isnt as serious as we fear.

Carlson and Forbath are both there and the Vikings drafted the rookie to be there on game day. You don’t use a 5th round pick on a kicker if you don’t plan to play him. But, if he can’t put it through the uprights during the preseason, he won’t be around to see the regular season games. Forbath is what he is at this point. Pretty damn consistent.

Marcus Sherels is listed as Returner-1 for both kickoffs and punts ahead of rookie, Mike Hughes. That’s not a surprise but reports out of camp have Hughes taking a lot of reps at both positions with the respective 1st teams.

These “unofficial rosters” are PC versions of how the team looks coming into camp. Veterans are listed ahead of younger guys even if that’s not how the battles are playing out on the practice field and injuries aren’t taken into account.

But, it’s Vikings’ news so let’s eat it up.
