Vikings Expected to Cut Adam Thielen in Coming Days
The Minnesota Vikings were willing to bring Adam Thielen back on a contract that would have allowed him to retire as a lifetime Viking. But only if it was going to come on a steep discount, something Thielen wasn’t willing to do.
So according to Adam Schefter (ESPN), Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is expected to release the Detroit Lakes / Mankato State legend in the coming days.
There’s a real possibility that the Vikings and Adam Thielen will part ways in the coming days, allowing the two-time Pro-Bowl WR to become a free agent, per sources. The two sides will talk in coming days, but his time in Minnesota could be coming to an end.

We didn’t know exactly how this separation would go down but it’s no surprise, if you’ve been paying attention. Now we know. Adam will get his release and have an opportunity to shop on the free agent market. Maybe he and Aaron Rodgers will find themselves together in the Big Apple…
Update: March 10 (8:50 AM)
Tom Pelissero (NFL Network) is reporting Friday morning that the Vikings plan to release Adam Thielen later today. He will officially hit free agency when that happens. The two sides briefly discussed an extension to lower his cap hit but, as expected, those conversations didn’t go far.

A onetime undrafted free agent from Minnesota State who went on to catch 55 touchdown passes for his hometown team, Thielen has plenty left in the tank at age 32 and wants to land with a contender. pic.twitter.com/FxsFP9z7MX
