Ed Ingram is Way Too Satisfied with His Week 1 Performance
Minnesota Vikings right guard, Ed Ingram, and the rest of the interior offensive line struggled on Sunday in the team’s season opener vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At least, that’s what seemed obvious if you watched the game.
Ed Ingram thinks he played “pretty well” vs Bucs
Don’t tell Ingram that, though. He spoke with reporters on Monday and expressed a sense of satisfaction for his play vs the Bucs, telling Darren Wolfson (KSTP, SKOR North) that he thought he thought he “played pretty well vs the Bucs” and “liked his performance”.

Well, that makes one of us, Ed. Personally, I prefer my quarterback upright, with time in the pocket to find open receivers. I’d rather he not be under constant pressure and fearing for his life, especially when his health will dictate the success of my season. But that’s just me…
Are you doubting your personal eye for football, after seeing Ed’s confidence with media on Monday? Don’t worry, Pro Football Focus saw the same thing we did, when evaluating Ingram’s performance from Sunday.
Ingram’s PFF Grades agree with eye test
Ed Ingram’s overall PFF grade vs the Bucs was 46.2, 2nd worst on the Vikings offense. His pass block grade was 40.3, the worst of 12 Vikings who received grades in the pass block category, which includes Alexander Mattison (49.1) and Oli Udoh (43.4).
Oh, and if you’re wondering whether or not the above clip was taken out of context, given how short it is. Don’t worry, it wasn’t. I watched the entire interview (you can too) and the length of the above clip is due strictly to the shortness of Ingram’s answer, when asked to evaluate his performance.
Free agent guard, Dalton Risner, was at an airport on Monday, but flew somewhere other than Minneapolis. At this point, it seems pretty clear the Minnesota Vikings have no interest in improving their interior offensive line, from outside the organization. Maybe that’s why they’re lying to Ed Ingram about his performance? In order to keep his confidence up…
That’d be a bold strategy, Cotton. The Minnesota Vikings have a fast turnaround for week 2. They play on Thursday Night Football vs the Philadelphia Eagles.
