Trent Williams Trade Talks Cutoff Because He Didn’t Want to Be in Minnesota, Reportedly

I’m starting to believe Trent Williams doesn’t want to play football anywhere in 2020 or beyond. It looks like the Vikings and Redskins were on the verge of sealing a deal tonight during night-2 of the NFL Draft, when Williams “let it be known” that he didn’t want to be in Minnesota.

That’s when the Vikings and Redskins cutoff their trade discussions and the Spielman took Ezra Cleveland with the 58th pick of the draft. I’m guessing it’s a weather thing, like usual, but it is worth noting that Williams and Cousins played together in Washington.

Vikings fans would have happily welcomed a Trent Williams trade but the guy was going to be 32 years old by the time the NFL season was to start and he still wanted a contract extension before stepping on the field.

We’re now entering day 3 of the draft and the Vikings are yet to really address their offensive line, outside of a 3rd round pick who looks skinny enough to play tight end.

Luckily though, Rick Spielman was able to trade down 17 times and amass 43 more picks between rounds 6 and 7. If lucky, he’ll be able to gather every draft pick in those two rounds so he doesn’t have to convince anyone to come here in undrafted free agency.
