As the Minnesota Vikings limp into their final game of the season, they’re carrying a few key injuries into the rivalry finale. The playoff-bound Green Bay Packers have nothing to play for and are expected to rest many of their starters. Sitting at 8-8, Minnesota can’t swing their draft position too drastically.

It remains to be seen who starts at quarterback on Sunday. J.J. McCarthy is progressing from a hairline fracture in his throwing hand, while backup Max Brosmer has yet to produce many highlights in limited action.

Among the other positions depleted is at running back. Aaron Jones has dealt with different maladies all year long, and Jordan Mason missed Week 17 with an ankle injury. Depth for the week has arrived in the form of Sincere McCormick.

Ty Chandler returned for the Vikings last week after going on injured reserve following a Week 1 victory against the Chicago Bears. Kevin O’Connell could have concerns about the availability of his starting veterans, though, and newly added Sincere McCormick provides another option.

Undrafted out of Texas San-Antonio, McCormick made his NFL debut last season with the Las Vegas Raiders. He played in five games and knotched two starts. His 183 yards on 39 carries averaged out to 4.7 yards per attempt. He is still seeking his first career touchdown.

The practice squad addition doesn’t necessarily mean he will be elevated to the active roster on Sunday. However, that option is now present with linebacker Austin Keys sent packing.

Keys is a 23-year-old rookie that has played in 11 games for the Minnesota Vikings this season. He has a sack despite logging just eight defensive snaps. On special teams he played in 64% (191 snaps) of the action.

Minnesota is set to kick off against the Packers on Sunday afternoon at 12pm CT. When the dust settles from that game, it will be time to turn to the offseason and fix what went wrong.
