Randy Moss Says He’s ‘Hands Down’ the Greatest Wide Receiver of All Time
Who’s the NFL’s best wide receiver today? In Week 15, Minnesota Vikings fans saw a potential showdown between Justin Jefferson and Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase edged out by Jordan Addison and Tee Higgins instead. But that’s just one week.
When debating the greatest receiver in the modern era, the answers have to either be Jefferson or Tyreek Hill, at least for the past few years. But who’s the greatest wide receiver of all-time? That honor has to either go to Jerry Rice or Randy Moss, right? Rice doesn’t even put Moss in his top-3, but that’s for another conversation.

Many would even argue that despite not having the same numbers or career longevity that Rice had, that Moss could have been the greatest receiver of all time.

While others like Larry Fitzgerald and Terrell Owens rank above Moss among the NFL’s career receiving yards leaders, only Rice scored more touchdowns. Rice also played five more seasons, a testament to his drive and desire to be the best.
Randy Moss says he is “hands down” the greatest WR in history
Opinions are all over the place regarding the debate of the best receiver in NFL history, when actor/comedian Kevin Hart asked Randy Moss the question directly, Moss listed himself “hands down” at the top.
“Hands down, I consider myself the greatest wide receiver to ever play the game. That wasn’t a shot at Jerry. I still got respect and love for Jerry. But I just thought the way that I changed the game of football.”
Randy Moss declaring himself the NFL’s best receiver ever
It’s not the first time Moss has called himself the GOAT among NFL wide receivers and it probably won’t be the last. In addition to placing himself at No. 1, Moss also offered up his “Mount Rushmore” of all-time NFL wide receivers. Here’s how Moss sees it.
- Randy Moss
- Jerry Rice
- Terrell Owens
- Calvin Johnson
It’s hard to argue with the names Moss has on his list. Perhaps someday, Jefferson can have his face carved into history too, but we’re about a decade away from that debate.
