MN Vikings Add Two Quarterbacks for Rookie Camp

The Minnesota Vikings are still months away from the beginning of training camp and the NFL Draft is now in the rearview mirror, meaning it’s time for rookie camp at TCO Performance Center in Eagan.
While the Vikings’ added nine players in Pittsburgh last month, at a variety of different positions, they did not select or sign a rookie quarterback out of this year’s class.
So in order get some camp arms this week, the MN Vikings had to get creative, signing two quarterbacks Friday to help disperse footballs and take snaps from their young crop of draft and UDFA talent.
And most Vikings fans should recognize both names.
Minnesota Vikings grab two new QBs for rookie minicamp
The first is Cooper Rush, who lands at Minnesota Vikings rookie camp with eight years (16 starts) of NFL experience already under his shoulder pads.
Alongside of Rush will be Buffalo, MN native Aidan Bouman — son of St. Cloud State superstar and former MN Vikings quarterback, Todd Bouman — who is trying to keep his football career alive after throwing for 9,278 yards, 68 touchdowns and just 18 interceptions in four seasons at South Dakota State.

Kyler Murray was the linchpin of the Minnesota Vikings offseason. Signed for just $1.3 million, the veteran is coming in to assume the starting job.
He’ll be supplemented by Carson Wentz, J.J. McCarthy, and Max Brosmer, Of course, those guys won’t factor in at rookie minicamp, which is why the Vikings had to find more bodies.
Out of Cooper Rush’s 42 NFL appearances, there was no game more memorable than his first start — which came against the Minnesota Vikings back in 2021. That day, Rush completed 24-of-40 passes for 325 yards and 2 touchdowns, in a 20-16 Cowboys win.

Cooper Rush played in 2025 with the Baltimore Ravens, where he appeared in four games and drew two starts, completing 65.4% of his passes. Unfortunately, the 32-year-old threw FOUR interceptions and ZERO touchdowns last season.
Other names to watch at Vikings rookie camp
Rush was actually one of three veterans invited to MN Vikings rookie minicamp, joined by Trenton Irwin (WR) and Brandon Walton (OL).
It remains to be seen what level of participation first round pick Caleb Banks will be able to show, following his foot surgery. Beyond just the names that were called on draft day, there are some interesting undrafted guys at camp today worth keeping an eye on.

UDFA punter, Brett Thorson, will get his first opportunities to turn heads, as he attempts to supplant newly signed Johnny Hekker on the roster. The Georgia product has a big leg, and all the talent, but we’ve heard that before.
Former Minnesota Gophers tight end Drew Biber was also invited on a tryout. So too was Oregon kicker Atticus Sappington. Both had decent college careers, but neither is expected to make it beyond this weekend.
