When the Minnesota Vikings introduced Nolan Teasley as the organization’s new general manager, owner Mark Wilf made it incredibly clear that he was the man in charge of the front office.

That mostly put to bed rumors that previously suggested a new “Triangle of Authority” in Minneapolis between Teasley, head coach Kevin O’Connell and longtime executive Rob Brzezinski, immediately following his hire.

Nolan Teasley Fires Minnesota Vikings executives, another walks

But if there was any remaining questions over who holds final authority in Eagan these days, Nolan Teasley fired them out the window on Thursday when he let three longtime front office executives go, signaling change internally that did not happen when Kwesi Adofo Mensah was hired in 2022, according to Alec Lewis (The Athletic).

Another, assistant GM Demitrius Washington, walked away on his own accord, according to Kevin Seifert (ESPN).

  • Salli Clavelle – Pro scout

Recently hired Minnesota Vikings general manager Nolan Teasley is making changes to the front office, according to multiple league sources… These moves signal a different approach from the route taken when the Vikings hired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as their GM.

Both Washington and Clavelle were hired by Adofo-Mensah, and came from the San Francisco 49ers organization. All four departing execs were involved in college scouting, in one way or another, which is significant since that’s an area the MN Vikings have struggled in, since Rick Spielman was fired in 2022.

Vikings on hunt for new assistant GM?

Stephenson, meanwhile, leaves the Vikings after 24 years with the organization (2002). He started as a college scout, before rising quickly to director of college scouting in 2009. The most intriguing departure announced Thursday is probably Demitrius Washington, because it leaves an opening for the Vikings at assistant general manager.

Lewis believes that spot position, specifically, could be easier to hire this time of year, since most organizations won’t block executives from interviewing for an external promotion to assistant GM.

Teasley could add another assistant general manager, given that opposing teams don’t typically block candidates for positions with that title.
