New Teammates Carry Joshua Dobbs on Their Shoulders in Locker Room Celebration

Joshua Dobbs may not have been the best player on the field for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, but as is often the case with quarterbacks, he was the most important. And the task at hand — leading his brand new team to victory — was not an easy one. Yet, he somehow succeeded.

So in the locker room after the game, his teammates were well aware of just how impressive Dobbs performance vs the Atlanta Falcons really was.

That’s why, after head coach Kevin O’Connell gave an impassioned postgame speech that included a game ball for Dobbs, Vikings players cheered and lifted their new QB up onto their shoulders in celebration. It’s quite the moment to watch.

Performance wasn’t perfect, but it was just right.
Dobbs was far from perfect on Sunday. His numbers (20/30, 158 YDS, 2 TD, INT) were very mediocre, on paper, and he turned the ball over three times, including a safety he could have gotten out of the endzone for.
But in the end, Joshua was able to use his limited knowledge of the playbook, Kevin O’Connell’s great QB coaching and his big rocket scientist brain to piece enough plays together to get a victory. But his biggest asset was his legs, which got Dobbs out of some very sticky situations in the pocket and really saved the game for the Vikings.
His new Vikings teammates told reporters about how impressive they thought he performed, after the celebration.
I'm not saying Josh Dobbs played a perfect game, but holy crap, to play as well as he did, on the spot, with a few days to learn the playbook.. Impressive.
