Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell both took to the podium at the NFL scouting combine on Tuesday, but they didn’t receive very many questions about the prospects who are in Indianapolis trying to impress scouts and decision makers this week.

Instead, most of the questions KAM and KOC fielded today were based off of roster decisions they have yet to make on crucial pieces like Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson. On JJ, Kwesi made it clear that he has never thought about trading the team’s most valuable asset. The tone is a bit different with Kirk, who finally received his first grill.

But eventually, the Vikings’ front office and coaching staff will turn their attention to the hundreds of draft prospects gathered in Indy. Because whether they re-sign Kirk Cousins or not, this is an organization on the hunt for their QB of the future.

Minnesota Vikings set up meeting with Jayden Daniels

And one quarterback, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, has been linked to the Vikings a number of times already.

And on Tuesday, the Vikings verified those reports when they set up an evening meeting with Daniels. It’s the first formal combine meeting reported between the Vikings and a quarterback. Daniels also has meetings set up with the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and Washington Commanders.

What does this mean? It’s hard to say what it means in the long run. Right now, the Vikings are slotted to pick #11 overall and Jayden Daniels is the consensus #3 overall pick. Does this mean they are willing to jump up for Daniels, or that they believe he might fall before draft day.

Either could be true. It’s also very possible that the Vikings plan to meet with all of the top quarterbacks this week, which would make the meeting with Daniels obsolete. But for now, the Daniels face-to-face is the only QB meeting that has been reported.
