Minnesota Vikings Sign Johnny Mundt to Contract Extension
The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly signed tight end Johnny Mundt, who was on the roster last season mostly as a TE3, to a 1-year, $2.5 million contract extension. With TJ Hockenson expected to miss time at the beginning of the season, as he recovers from a torn ACL, the deal for Mundt makes a lot of sense, no matter who is playing quarterback.

Mundt, who has started 12 of 34 games for the Vikings, is known best for his blocking abilities. But over the past two seasons, he’s proven himself reliable in the pass game, if nothing else, totaling 36 catches for 312 yards and two touchdowns. 17 of those receptions, 172 yards and 1 touchdown came in 2023-24.

Minnesota also extended Nick Muse this week, and they still have Josh Oliver, who’s expected to take most of the starting reps until Hockenson comes back, under contract too. When more details come out on Mundt’s contract, they will be added to this article.
