Report: More Teams Coming for Vikings DC Brian Flores

The start of the Minnesota Vikings offseason isn’t a fun place to hang out for fans of the team.
It’ll be better, come February, when we all login daily excited to find new nuggets coming out of the NFL Draft Combine; when we are hanging on every insider report that might mention a new quarterback the Vikings might be targeting to right their ship in 2026.
Yes, those will be the days. Unfortunately, for now, all eyes and ears in the local sports world are anxiously transfixed on the NFL coaching carousel, which is spinning at full speed, as we enter 2025-26 Wild Card weekend.

Between the questions surrounding Minnesota’s QB future with JJ McCarthy, combined with the threat of losing defensive coordinator Brian Flores, the Vikings’ 2026 season already feels like it’s on the verge of collapse… and a 2025 Super Bowl champion his still weeks from being crowned.
On Thursday, the Baltimore Ravens became the first team in this coaching cycle to reportedly offer Brian Flores a head coaching interview. One interview request feels a bit light given how many of them have been flying around the last few days.
Raiders, other teams are still coming for MN Vikings DC
It’s especially curious that B-Flo has not heard anything yet from the Raiders, after a report broke last week claiming Brady was extremely interested in bringing in his old pal from New England, to help get things right in the desert.
But don’t get your hopes up just yet, MN Vikings fans. According to Darren Wolfson (KSTP) on his latest appearance this week with Mackey and Judd on the Purple Daily Podcast (SKOR North), more teams are coming for Flores, especially the Raiders.
Wolfson also mentions the Browns as possibly having interest, but says there very well could be others that he has not yet heard about.
“On [Brian Flores], the Raiders are coming. So the Raiders are interviewing a bunch of candidates [Thursday], a little bit [Wednesday]. Some of those candidates are Denver Broncos assistant coaches. You think about the Broncos on the buy this week, the way the rules are set up.
Vance Joseph, Davis Webb, those interviews need to take place now. Clint Kubiak, the former Vikings assistant, the Seahawks play caller, he needs — with the Seahawks being on a buy this week — to go through these interviews right now.
So, the Raiders are checking some of those boxes, before proceeding to Flo. So, as of last night, I checked with somebody and there were no interview requests for Flo, but now we know Jordan Schultz with the initial steam that the Ravens have put in the request.
I’m telling you, expect the Raiders to also put in that request…Flo is still heavily desired. He is. And so [a Raiders interview] is absolutely going to happen…I wouldn’t necessarily rule out the Browns as well. Not that I see Flo getting the Browns job.”

It feels like the Minnesota Vikings are walking on ice so thin to start this offseason, that they might as well be trying to ice fish in October. One wrong step at QB or Brian Flores walking away could immediately sink their 2026 season.
That’s a difficult world to live in. Every new Twitter notification that comes through regarding a new interview for Team X or who’s being targeted as the next head coach for Team Y, has Vikings fans rightfully on edge
Brian Flores will have interviews… but how many?
Yes, Wolfson expected the Raiders to interview Flores sooner, but don’t let the fact that they haven’t deceive you. It is worth reminding everyone, however, that B-Flo has less of a HC field to choose from, compared to other candidates.
Flores’ negative head coaching experience in Miami eliminates him from contention for that job. His active lawsuit against the New York Giants likely takes him out of the running there to.
Yeah, I alluded to on Tuesday, we may have some news when we talk [about] today that [a Raider interview] would have happened. It hasn’t, but I still foresee it happening.
You bring up the Dolphins, like I’m not sure if we said Dolphins or Giants for Flo, like which one would be a better chance [to hire Flores]? I think they would be neck and neck at the at the very bottom, right? I mean, when you’re suing the Giants, no chance, right?
Darren Wolfson – Purple Daily (SKOR North)
With his contract now expired, it’s not just head coaching opportunities we have to worry about losing Brian Flores to. We have to watch out for teams (like the Cowboys) that might try to sweep him off his feet as a defensive coordinator too.
So while it’s still very plausible Brian Flores returns as the MN Vikings’ defensive coordinator next season. But don’t let your guard down, because it’ll still be awhile before we can (hopefully) cross “Find a New DC?” off the offseason to-do list.
